I am glad to see more and more people who don't necessarily have a political axe to grind stepping up and disputing the garbage that comes of wingers' mouths.

As bitterly cold temperatures swept the country this week, right-wingers took the opportunity to push their anti-science agenda.

On his radio show, Rush Limbaugh claimed that liberals had simply invented the term “polar vortex”—as a ploy to “help the global warming agenda.”

But NBC weatherman Al Roker would not let that stand. On the Today Show, he definitively proved that “polar vortex” has been a term used by meteorologists for 50 years. And then he added: “so for all the doubters out there, STUFF IT.”

Why does this matter, and how does a “thank you” petition make a difference here?

Because right-wing demagogues like Rush Limbaugh bully weather reporters on a regular basis, attacking the scientific consensus that climate change is a real problem. So when Roker tells Limbaugh to “stuff it” and keep politics out of it, he needs to hear our appreciation.
