How about a list of most-read posters ... simple numbers of posts submitted wouldn't mean much, even if you stripped out political threads which you'd absolutely have to do, there would still be partisan bickering on trading threads and all the other moronosity that boosts post volume and contributes nothing
Peoplemarks are of limited value as a metric, because so many of them are old ... and here's an odd thing [maybe not that odd?] - i realised a while ago that several of the posters i follow most closely i do not have peoplemarked, why, because i know where they are, always show up on various threads i start with, it's easy to follow their bios from there, never thought to peoplemark them ... rectified that with three or four, including Mario who got poofed by mgmt upthread here, find his chart work highly useful, probably have missed a few others though
Also with peoplemarks, many of mine haven't posted for years, some have but i don't really follow them, so of what value is that ... it's who gets read that counts ... further - it's who gets searched out for reading, so if you could separate out who gets read earlier in each lurking session you'd have something more meaningful
And at some point you end up with a situation that so much data is collected and sorted and attributed that it just ain't fun anymore, gets creepy ... eh ... so have you learned your lesson greg, about setting up ABSOLUTELY UNMODERATED threads, lol - see what it gets you, annoying old biddies pumping some perennial loser of a stock and a pajama boy or three sucking up to a misguided management and/or getting back at Dale for some perceived political wrong elsewhere ... nothing about the structure and future of SI, which is implied by the rest of your title, and was what you had in mind, seemed to me |
