Okay I plead guilty, you are right about the differences

But on the server, the implimentation of the Java machine will have access to greater resources. As you know it is possible to write high level code to access low level code. Novell controls the server platform and it can give JAVA developers access to streamlined implimentations of various functions.

I understand Novell does have a plan to release some tools on the server for writing servlets by March 1998.

The mix between the client end of JAVA and the server end certainly gives them the opportunity that they have lacked to date with the MSFT stranglehold on apps.

Incidentally everything you read here comes across a pipe designed for a 28.8 modem connection. I've adjusted to it. The graphics are tolerable. Yes my standalone NT workstation operates faster. yes I don't have to wait for the program to draw windows and panel them. But it functions well enough for you and me to communicate. That is what designing software systems is all about. Meeting needs with some acceptable level of performance. My gut feeling is Novell engineering can do this better than anyone else.
