Sorry, I forgot to post one CRITICAL fact...

If you check APM's SEC reports they EXPLICITLY state that nearly all of their efficiency gains came from higher production volumes. Using the margin number from last quarter is inappropriate.

Also, don't confuse process yield with profit. They are not the same. You can have a high yield and still not make a profit. Loss of volume is one way. Industrywide dumping, causing severe downward pricing pressures, is another The dumping is showing no signs of letting up. What IF it continues (gag!) for another year?

As for the rest of your comments, I do not necessarily disagree. However, I am not sure what the effect of the increasing popularity of sub $1000 PC's will be.
