He's probably banking on the four year cycle bottom due in 2014. The top preceding that bottom can start anywhere later in the year. And the bottom may be not all that deep. The reason the four year cycle works is because the Fed's history is that they systematically on a four year schedule loosen monetary policy to get a recovery going at the bottom and then intentionally tighten near the top to cool the Economy off. There's nothing much to cool off this time because of the weak recovery following the '08 - '09 depression. They are on record saying that they will keep rates low until at least next year. The market went up for six years from the 1974 bottom, which was also a 18 year cycle year bottom, as was '09.

Todd may be just another market timer trying to call a top.
