He is in his last year of HS so packing it in with my goal not achieved, but got him a decent return. I did not like the feeling when his money tanked during the market lows (16k was the low, so he is (85/16) about 430% off his lows that is good enough I am checking out).

No I don’t have to be as active and the last couple of years I over did it and it was not fun late last year. I started out the year last year trying to manage my money like Prem having 50(long)/50(short and cash) and long but just couldn’t keep up with it so I started trading like mad or gambling and it was working until I got greedy. I much prefer using 10-20% of my portfolio for trading that is fun and feels like investing instead of treating the market as a casino. I am usually skeptical too, but like Prem says this is a 1 and a century event there will be a time again when I will be going back to these principles, but not now no way for me anyway, but I do plan on being more of an investor this year than last. I am going to use Fairfax as my hedge this year instead of shorting the Jap yen/bonds and the S&P. There is no chance I can hold a stock like 10-20 years like you I honestly do not know how you do it. So, my plan going forward is using Fairfax and cash as hedges against my NG and Miner portfolio and trade much less. I think natural gas companies easily outperform the S&P over the next 10 years. My prediction S&P up maybe 10-20% higher and the average natural gas producer up many times your investment.
