Yahoo's web site is the most trafficed because of its stock quote server (remember hat comment I made about the symptoms of a stock mania?) In fact, I would venture to guess that ir accounts for a good 50% of the hits on a daily basis...if not more.

If you want the true content-aggregation/internet leader, then look no further than Microsoft. They've been making strategic investments in internet content (not the least of which is MSNBC) and infrastructure (Comcast, etc.) for a few years now.

For all this talk about global media empires, I still only see a search engine which sells banner ads and only had $200,000 in operating earnings last quarter.

Don't kid yourself. It is far too early to make sweeping predicitions about Yahoo. It is plain stupid to pay billions for revenue/earnings streams which project so far into the future that it is anyone's guess what may or may not happen, particularly in such a rapidly changing environment as high-tech and the internet.

Oh...BTW the early investors in US Steel would have made 100000% on their monney. Assuming they're not dead already!
