He's definitely entering (predictably) into official Lame Duck status now. Never the more to hold any elected office.

But I'd be willing to bet that 10 years down the road from now he will (as these things go) be remembered quite FONDLY by strong majorities of the American public... as polling will then indicate. Likely score rather well against numerous other ex-Presidents in the fullness of time.

Historians of the Presidency tell us that it really takes about 50 years or so before public opinions about our leaders become 'locked into the history books', and I won't be around to see that final verdict, but I'm reasonably sure that in the 'mid range' his historical popularity will steadily trend upwards.

(At least when contrasted/compared to the no-doubt rather low bar to be set by contemporaneous office holders of the period. GGG.)
