At a hypothetical takeout price of 8x sales or $8 billion, ASND would be an aquisition 40x the size of Prominet. Even with a debt financed aquisition, and new shares issued after 10/98 to relieve that debt, I don't find it surprising that LU opts to build-out their networking portfolio by purchasing small private companies at the leading edge of networking technology...ASND seems simply far too large to swallow whole, as long as LU is restricted from stock-swaps in its deals. I really can't imagine LU going after ASND with its current situation -- especially after taking out Octel, Livingston, and now Prominet. But what I believe this DOES do, is encourage NT to look at ASND with calculating eyes.
