I have a close friend who will use "irregardless" at least once in a visit. I don't have the heart to bring it up to him though. I know he means "regardless."

There's a Wiki page devoted to it. It says that the word first appeared in a newspaper in 1795. However, it doesn't tell us if it was brought in through the editor or was in a letter to the newspaper (if they had letters to the editor back then).
