I have no issue with moderators being able to ban anyone they disagree with. After all, they manage the thread and it takes effort to keep threads properly monitored.

What I find offensive is moderators like you Dale who ban someone and then trash talk about them on the same thread after they've been censored. To me, that's classless and in many cases libelous. It's also simple decency and proper etiquette. The threads of SI should not be used as private asylums to say ugly and untruthful things about other participants of SI, without them being able to respond to the accusation.

There should be a rule on SI that if someone has been banned by the moderator, the moderator must take an active role in preventing discussions about the banned person from continuing, especially if those discussions are of a negative nature.
