I am very amused at this absurd argument that a high level of taxpayer funded benefits is somehow justification for a higher minimum wage. Respectfully, I would submit that the argument is utterly and abjectly stupid.

They are two different things, unrelated to one another in any way except that they create an unhealthy sense of entitlement on the parts of the beneficiaries. It is not a good idea to "train" people into believing their commodity labor is worth the same as skilled labor. It is not a good idea to train people that if they show up on certain days of the week they'll receive a handout with no consequences attached.

It should be intuitive, even to left wing idiots, that giving people stuff makes no sense at all -- whether it is higher pay than they earned or free shit. It will just cause people to become lazier and more worthless to society.

We should insist on people at least making an effort to contribute.
