To all,

I just came back from the AGM. Talk to Sim myself. He is a nice fellow, a person with a great vision for Creative.

He see Creative as having the potential to be the third pillar (mutimedia) in the Pc market. Other two pillars are Intel (Hardware) and Microsoft (Software). Creative is now on the path of establishing itself as a defacto standard for a complete PC multimedia solution with its sound and video solution.

He see the eventual convegence of PC and TV with Creative leading the pack in establishing the standard. Currently, there are simply too much junks on the PC market. Everybody are touting their wares and microsoft is only capable of establishing some standard at the software front while Creative has the means of pushing the multimedia standard. That is the reason why Creative is able to put out DVD at that bargain price. The supplier also wants Creative to win by pushing out DVD fast enough to clear up the current technological confusion. It is a win-win situation to all.

The recent acquisitions will not be position to dilute Creative brand. It is to strengthen the strategic defence of the company by being able to offer a complete sound solution ranging from the low end to the high end. Opti and Ensoniq will retain their own brand name products. He sees the ultimate competitor as Intel, not the other junkies company like Venture, Aztech etc.

He did said that the Asean crisis will affect only the revenue aspect but the earning forecast for this quarter will be met. He said that Europe is the other important growth area.

I did ask him about the two "wowing" announcements. He said that it was the PR department mistake is hyping up the news and that Creative actually was still in the mist of tieing up the announcement. We can expect to hear another acquistion on the way. The Ensoniq must be the first one.

Another thing. Creative will be the only one to retain the exclusive right to use 3Dfx Voodoo 2 trademark on its coming 3D product. This is sure going to generate a lot of hype among the gamers.

The share split is still pending but he won't want to split it below the single digit level as it will be labelled as a junkie stocks.

I am right now even more upbeat about Creative with such a visionary CEO around. He had a clear grasp about the technology evolution, the ever increasing challenge from the competitors and most importantly, he has the clear vision of how to market and sell Creative products.

98 will be a good year, with DVD selling like hot cakes and the recently launched Blaster Extreme in short supply. The Voodoo 2 and Cambridge speakers will also be another hit products. Now I am even more long in Creative. This is the time now to pick up more cheap shares.

Derrick
