My point about those years was the rate of increase in real spending.

In terms of deficits, yes if you compare just Carter and Reagan, Reagan's where larger, but over the history of the country Reagan's were at most the 5th largest, maybe even a bit lower than that.

Oil prices, interest rates, return on investments, etc. Reagan gets a BOOST on ALL those numbers through NO policy decisions of his own

Your kidding right? Reagan supported Volcker on breaking the over-inflation and then cut and reformed taxes, continued deregulation and pushed through the elimination of the "windfall profits tax".
