Koan,
How do you explain the fact your scared bill of rights allowed for slavery?
How does an imperfect Bill of Rights support your belief that society can override the self-evident rights of an individual?

Tenchusatsu>>

I find that a strange question.

There are no self-evident rights of the individual. If there were then democracy would not be so messy.

There is a fundamental problem with the human species and democracy that should be self evident.

And that problem is: how do you balance individual rights with the rights and needs of society? And what are they ?

E.g we still engage in torture and war. One would think if there were self-evident rights of the individual not being tortured would be one of them!

You are not seeing the big picture of the complexity of human self governance. And that is the mistake conservatives make in general.

Republican ideas are simplistic and would only work in a dictatorship, ironically.
