Tom & Jerry...no but the " mini-maggot & brummy" show on SI is definitely one weird cartoon. Yes, Christianity in the US seems deadened, culturally boring, lifeless. Just look at you hanging around here incessantly, doing little from your easy perch , no research, same axes to grind, same reptitions. Life so much more than this, but back to my proposal about the symbols of the Christian church, was not always depictiing the crucifix & torture of man.

As i said Christians weren't at all given to to using the crucifixion as a symbol originally, you knew it so why argue? This new find here with Hellene, Judaic & Byzantine influences we see a great energy & lovely artistry on the floor mosaics , beautiful work. If Christians today had just 1/10th of this ardour & passion in the construction of their prefab looking bland churches. There is a cross but no dying tortured figure, lots of nature, peaceful doves, botanicals, animals, the world of creation in these beautiful mosaics.

Your problem is you got Romanized & Imperialized from the rear & dont know it, should have stayed more with your Byzantine Judaic roots, they had the better spirit and still do. I have a best friend that does this kind of tile work in the richest county in the US, not those right wing idiots in Orange county either, love helping him out, hes one of the best.

A 1,500-year-old mosaic floor with colorful images of animals, botanical and geometrical designs has been brought to light during the excavation of a Byzantine-era Christian church in southern Israel.

"The church probably served as a center of Christian worship for the neighboring communities," the Israel Antiquities Authority said in a news release about the find, issued Wednesday. The floor and other remains of the basilica were found over the past three months during preparations for the construction of a new neighborhood at Moshav Aluma, the agency said.
