This is an excellent post, very thought provoking and a refreshing diversion from looking at the problem in a partisan way. Nowhere is this more evident than in my own family where my better half in born and raised from immigrant grandparents, and I immigrant with an engineering degree fro the (MIT of India). My two sons went to public schools and they were never pushed to go out and achieve something. Their ideals, their ambitions, their morals were not set by their school teachers. Whereas in my case, the Jesuit priests set those for me (and I am not even a Christian). I am of the firm belief that these children need to be pushed even in setting their ideals and ambitions.

I am almost to the end of reading Steve Jobs book. Not all students are Steve or for that matter Wozniaks. Kids in India and China do not have access to video games to play on their home computers. Home computers are expensive and getting them fixed is even more expensive. Parents allow the use of computers "as long as they are used for furthering their career, degrees and employment prospects."

Towards the end of the post, what is said about America and Americans is very true. Unlike other countries, Americans are admired worldwide for their ability to pull together in times of crisis and outshine the rest to rise to the top. We do have that opportunity now. And we can do so if we stop being that partisan.

Thanks again for that post and I hope you continue to bring many more.
