I interpret the "Life of Brian" as a satire about HUMAN stupidity, not Jesus. The people in the film had the Very God in their midst, missed this completely and instead elevated a pathetic creature who actually denied being what they said he was to the position of Messiah. This is so typical of people and actually literally happened during Jesus' life on Earth.
