I won't be watching because I know the state of the union is lousy and I don't need for him to tell me otherwise.
Does anyone here read Powerline blog? I admire Steven Hayward. He seems to work hard at a lot of what I consider the right types of things.

By the way the man who will be the keynote speaker tonight was a contemporary of mine in Hawaii where we both grew up. He went to Punahou which is the elite high school on Oahu. I was turned down and went to a public high school. I forgive myself now for that rejection because, looking back on it, I was a pale skinned buzz cut son of a marine corp colonel and my focus at school was directed at brawling with the locals for my survival. It also didn't help that in 8th grade I had the bright idea of throwing an apple core from the courtyard during recess through the louvers of my science teachers window. It just occurred to me to do it and I hit her in the head with it. A one in a million shot. She was a nun who weighed about 300lbs and spent the entire year applying a skin lotion called "Rose Milk" to her face while we read the chapters in silence and I didn't like her. Anyway my memory is clear if not accurate and I remember her "floating" to the louvers and out of the two hundred children in the courtyard playing she pointed a stubby well moisturized finger directly at me. I was the top student in science and received an "F" that year.

I went on to college at Chaminade "University" where I held several posts to pay for my education including but not limited to:

Cutting fish at the Slow Poke fish Market
Working as a security guard from 11 at night to 7 in the morning at a battered women's shelter on the second floor above the YMCA. (I don't recommend this job).
Delivering beer to the Samoan projects for a liquor store called "The Beer Express". (I don't recommend this one either)
Bar tender at Moose McGillycuddy's (I do recommend this job).

I then went on to:

Project manager at MCI.
Program manager in charge of implementation of the Sun Microsystems wide area network then the European version of the same network for SUN.
Product manager at @Home Network .
Salesman for a granite company.
Owner of a moderately successful commercial granite company.

The above rant is my attempt to say that I did something. The keynote speaker tonight will, in the next three years, take more money from people like me and give to others because he's concerned about "income inequality". I take offense to that.
