Looks like the disk drive industry's shedding blood, alright. Here's something from Jim Cramer's (thestreet.com) report from today. At least the other manufacturers are making money, though.

* Quantum (QNTM:Nasdaq) warned that it expects to report third-quarter earnings of 25 cents to 35 cents per share, missing by far the 11-analyst consensus estimate of 60 cents versus the year-earlier 36 cents. The company cited aggressive pricing in the distribution channel for desktop hard drives.

* Elsewhere in disk-drivery, Seagate (SEG:NYSE) said it will close a plant in Clonmel, Ireland, firing 1,400 people and taking an unspecified restructuring charge.
