Anyone see CBS's Person of Interest episode last night? A "Cube" was unwrapped and usage thereof figured prominently in the plot.

Created a synthetic hand, complete with embedded fingerprints.

Fingertips were cut off, (keeping in order presumably), hollowed out to fit the finger of the "thief".

Then the thief was advised to lick each fingertip prior to inserting into the biometric whole hand scanner to simulate sweat/moisture in "real fingers" and voila, the vault popped open.

First episode of any whodunit I'm aware of which featured any 3-D device as part of the plot-line. -g-

More of this type popularization/introduction to the general public may help ignite the faddish consumer curiousity demand factor, and thus reduce the price point as more of the early units get sold, helping reduce the cost of these units, much like Big Screen TVs' price points have fallen the more WallyWorld sells the 50" models and drives down pricing.
