Y2K will be taken seriously the moment a Y2K-related problem causes some sort of a high-profile catastrophe. Either that or when some publicity-seeking law firm catches the attention of the media by suing a major corporation for millions over a Y2K related problem.

I guess this happens mid to end of January '98.
