You're absolutely right about the 'ownership' aspect ... every shareholder owns a piece of the company and can, at the discretion of the Directors, receive a slice of the profits ("ownership interest" ??) in terms of a Dividend ...

.... however, once the company has issued that share and received capital for it, that's the end of the "provision of capital" component with regard to the future life of that share.
From then onwards that share moves between buyers and sellers, only, with no further capital provision or benefit to the company.
