Let me fill in the blanks (my fill in, others may fill i n some other way)

Let us continue with Colin Powell. Was he not booted out by the Cheney axis in the cabinet? He is a Republican because as he put it "he is a fiscal conservative and a social liberal". The social liberal in him makes him a "socialist" by today's Republican party/Tea party standards. And we started to see that creeping in just like Alzheimer does during the W Administration.

Yes Sr. and Reagan loved him proving that there is no reason to hate him. But those were the days and that is why the Republicans held the WH then. But today, the Tea Party (which by the way only came into being "after" Obama got elected) and the Republican party is a different breed. Meanness, hatred, intolerance have become their hall mark.

In all fairness, let me put words into your argument and as you ask "What about Condi Rice." To which I say, Condi was not so much in the limelight and she worked very closely with W whose direct ear she had as NSA advisor. W and the Bush family are very tolerant folks having married into Mexican-American families.

And I am sure yu are smart enough in that I have to only mention a few phrases uttered by Republican party/Tea Party folks in the years since Obama became President.

"You lie"; "Food stamp President", "He was not born here"(implying he is a African) "Obamacare"(after having built up hatred for Obama.
