The crux of it is a combination of value thresholds like ROE,PE,Book Value, etc. Then I take a look at the number of shares outstanding, institutional ownership, RSI at 59 or higher, potential growth prospects, etc. Another key is knowing the fluctuation of certain company's stock price based on profit margins. An example of this would be a company like GMCR. You buy like mad when coffee prices and margins are down and the price of the stock is down. You know that coffee is too cheap and with good institutional ownership it is as close to a slam dunk as one gets in this market of stocks. JVA is another good example where I have made substantial gains. Hope that this helps, charts are but one thing that I look at.
