I would agree. But John different people have different priorities - different moralities - to you the high moral ground is about those issues you support. To a person on the right their moral issue might be abortion. You sure could argue that they have the moral high ground on that issue. (I switched issues here to try to get you to see my point - not be confusing). .........To the people shown in the picture Bentway put up, race inequality was their issue of importance. I get that. However, if people in their heart of hearts believe it is immoral to live a life style today and charge the bill to our kids - who are you to declare that one is morally right and the other is not? (this is not argument of the issue of how best to reduce the debt - it is an argument about how people perceive the issue).

With the exception of the deficit, you and I agree on a lot of issues. But I'm not arguing the issues. AND I'm not arguing which of the issues is of a higher moral importance. I'm arguing that people have different issues that are their moral equivalents to the civil disobedience's of MLK. ...........IOW, this statement of yours applies equally to some on the right; ....
He saw civil disobedience as a means to awaken dormant moral concerns; not as a means of violent force against other violent forces. So they may shut down the government for instance.
