I disagree. I use Schwab because they make markets in so many stocks.

If the broker is the market maker, they have a lot of leeway. Schwab's
MM has been more than fair. I've gotten the ask on a sell and the
bid on a buy many times. I've even gotten orders sold at the ask
when the ask was also the high for the day.

The order WILL go to the market maker eventually no matter the broker.
The key is how ethical is your market maker. NDB's MM Sherman Securities really screws you. Schwab's doesn't. I wouldn't use
number of markets made as a guide to picking a broker.
