It's always sad when a great ship goes for scrap. A few have been restored and revered for the history that took place on their decks. The USS Constitution, the USS Missouri, the USS New Jersey. The New Jersey was pressed back into service during the Gulf War, where it scared the hell out of every Iraqi within 20 miles.

I haven't seen the Forrestal, but I toured the Constellation. It was so big I could hardly comprehend that it could be a moving object carrying hundreds of big moving objects and thousands of men.
en.wikipedia.org Like the Forrestal, it was not a nuke.
