This little app, Cycloramic Studio 360 Panorama, was featured on Shark Tank and had the sharks beating each other up wanting a piece of it.

After one stands the iPhone on its edge, it modulates the frequency of the vibrator in the phone to cause it to walk or pivot in a circle, incrementally stopping to take a photo for a panorama stitch algorithm until it has a complete set. Everyone thought it was rotating on a carousel.

It appears from the reviews to only work on hard smooth surfaces with a high density, like granite or glass.
