pay the umpty millions to handle the asbestos and get to the treasure trove of steel.

A carrier of that vintage has about 25-30K tons of steel. I haven't priced scrap steel in many years, but I would guess less than $200/ton. $5-6M for the steel. There are probably a few hundred tons of copper on board which is worth a lot more per pound, but still it is not a good business if you have to pay rich world labor and have rich world safety precautions. Tow it to India and it is worth more.
