I don't think the last two recoveries felt real at all in the sense you are implying so agree with you. Artificially lower rates to mask long term structural problems no one wants to address expecting malinvestment into inflated assets with stretched multiples to cash flow eventually trickling down to everyone whose income is 100% derived from labor is not working. But there is a big difference between the REAL recovery via nominal GDP trending upward , record profits, construction cranes again all over the place and a rising DOW under GWB and Obama vs the real economy booms under Reagan and Clinton where we weren't pushing on a string
