Did you read Jeremy Grantham's take on natural gas? (He thinks it is a big advantage for the USA and that we woud be stupid to export it, that the big economic value of cheap gas would be ceated by the boom in manufacturing and petro-chemicals which would ensue. He also thinks that energy is something we can solve, that oil sands will be value traps and that oil will phase out over the next decades--he is more worried about metals and food.)

My nat gas stocks seem to have hedged most of their production and are going to miss out on the immediate rise in prices. I hope that the value of the 'non-core' (Ha!) oil/gas assets everyone is trying to sell will go up as a result.

Paul, I took a look at Big Lots. TKX is something I would be tempted by. Also Walmart. Otherwise not an area I am comfortable with. IBM is an old steady which has finally been pulling its socks up again. The business State Street is in seems to be an oligopoly, which is nice.
