Well dum dum, Phillip E Johnson or anyone else has to allow for that possibility, universe is 16bil yrs old... our planet's only 4.5B, that leaves 11Bil years to have seen the emrgence of intelligent life forms 4-5B yrs earlier than us. Even some aliens that were at our stage 1Bil years ago is an awesome thought... Until they land in the city Rose Garden, or sign their names in little atoms, we'll just have to muggle along with natural science.
