We've been around this before

I consider myself a progressive

My inclination is to advocate for things that fit my view of the way things ought to be

It is a fact that most of those things are also currently supported by the more liberal factions of the Democrat party

But political parties and their orientations are ephemeral...Lincoln was a Republican, remember

Lincoln would be a Democrat today, and it wasn't him that changed

So I don't pledge fealty to any party

It is unimaginable that I could support any contemporary Republican, but a slave owner being told his grandchildren would vote straight Republican would cause him to soil his Stars and Bars.....
