With the horizontal rig count rebounding over the past six months and good
prospects for further gains in rig activity in the Permian and possibly other
basins, the large and small service companies are likely to push for modest price
increases in the coming months. If successful, these pricing initiatives would
bring relief to an industry that has experienced a period of brutal competition and
severe margin contraction since the second half of 2011.
