>>>I only follow this thread because I am a Ricochet subscriber and am interested in how the company does financially although I have not (yet) invested in Metricom.<<<

Then why don't we share observations. From a financial standpoint, this company fails most of the usual tests. Until the 'paul allen -anvil' buys it appeared that they were going to have to use credit card financing. This new majority investor gives them access to cash. But I would assume at a price. That price could well be a recapitallization which would destroy current shareholder equity. Management has put itself on the opposite side of the table from the shareholder. Until these sorts of things are figured out, I would remain a "would be" investor.

What has never been very clear to me for many years has been the lack of market success of Ricochet. Why don't you give your personal opinion re: cost benefit ratio for the product. I have personally met several users who swear by it. I have recently met some who swear at it. The happy ones also had another ISP for some of the reasons enumerated by Waite. Distressing to me is the fact that on the Stanford campus where it has been for a very long time there is zero mind share. In the financial district of SF there appears to be zero usage. This maybe a skewed sample, but it's the only one I have. Share your experience.

I personally think that the product at present has a lot less merit than it did when first offered. I lay the current market share difficulties squarely at the feet of upper management which has paid itself well and done a terrible job of running the business.

Just shows you that some of us can't take a joke.
