I meant that I could see them partnering with Tesla for high end, high margin cars. Apple certainly has proven their ability to take existing ingredients, piece them together in an exciting way, and release a mainstream hit product. Both the iPhone and iPad were wildly popular and arguably the best devices in their categories (iPad certainly was) upon release. Those launches are what powered AAPL higher and thrust them into the spotlight. By the same token, they've demonstrated also that they aren't good at updating those devices to remain best in class (whether this is because of Jobs' departure and/or Cook's mistakes, it's hard to tell). So I could see them partnering with Tesla, taking existing technology and putting it into a really cool package that stuns people, and selling it at a huge markup. But I also see this going the way of their other product lines in that the high cost and intense competition force them to accept the role of niche player (this hasn't happened with the iPhone yet, but it's moving rapidly in that direction). We'll never see the day where average citizens are paying 50% more for "Apple cars".
Apple cannot "mainstream" anything and Apple has never been known for realistic pricing.... you are confusing your mobile tech companies.... How Ryan can you see Apple doing this? They cant even get beyond one basic phone design in 6 years...
