As for the electric car concept itself, it's still not economically viable, which is why a Tesla is more of a luxury item than anything else. But for a rich liberal area like Northern California, it's absolutely perfect because there are a ton of people willing to pay that much just for the environmental statement. And they also get a fun car that can serve as an "eco status symbol."

You probably know this..........Tesla is coming out with a 'cheaper' model next year...........$40K......cheap only by Tesla standards. If it has the same quality construction as the more expensive model, I suspect it will really grow the company.
