From Adam Feuerstein:

Ariad isn't likely to reach cash flow positive on paltry Iclusig sales, which means the company will be raising cash. AP26113 is a me-too ALK inhibitor with a lot of competition. Not exciting. And Ariad is still run by Harvey Berger. No way Wall Street gets back into bed with that guy.

Not only is AF down on Ariad but he's fairly unimpressed with '113......calling it one of many ALK inhibitors. And yet when I was doing my DD on Ariad, commentary from experts suggest a much more favorable reaction to '113. One example is from a Dr. Camidge who expresses good praise for '113:

D. Ross Camidge, MD, PhD, Director, Thoracic Oncology Clinical Program, University of Colorado Cancer Center, discusses the updated results of a first-in-human dose-finding study of the ALK/EGFR inhibitor AP26113 in patients with advanced malignancies. Data were presented at the 2013 European Cancer Conference in Amsterdam.

AP26113, a second-generation ALK inhibitor, has the broadest spectrum of activity of any of the second-generation inhibitors in terms of the known resistance mutations, Camidge says.

AP26113 showed a 61% response rate in patients who are resistant to crizotinib, including one patient who was intolerant to crizotinib. Most interestingly, Camidge says, the study showed the agent had activity in brain metastases. The study showed that 8 out of 10 patients with active brain metastases were experiencing shrinkage following treatment with AP26113. - See more at: onclive.com

Camidge says the duration of benefit is not yet mature, but long-term central nervous system (CNS) responses were observed. - See more at: onclive.com

I don't see AF as a god but he has a fairly good track record..........that's why I don't get the dichotomy between his take and that of experts. Clearly AF doesn't like Berger.......that's clear.

Any thoughts?
