| | | TARP which was nearly 800B, a huge sum produced nothing other than handing over money to crony capitalists, like green energy firm pals of Obama that paid crony owners hugs sums and when the money ran out declared bankruptcy. Ever hear of Solyndra? It's amazing how effective alliteration can be in a smear campaign. "Crony Capitalists"....it just sounds good. The fact that the activities have nothing to do with capitalism and in fact are impossible to classify as capitalistic, since our economic system has moved so far away from capitalism, is of little concern to those who are dedicated to destroying any remnants of the capitalist system that may still exist.
From Wikipedia Capitalism is an economic system in which trade, industry and the means of production are controlled by private owners with the goal of making profits in a market economy. [1] [2] Central characteristics of capitalism include capital accumulation, competitive markets and wage labor. [3] In a capitalist economy, the parties to a transaction typically determine the prices at which assets, goods, and services are exchanged. [4]
Trade is no longer controlled by private owners. This was largely the case in many markets before the current administration. But obamacare drove home the point that the government now controls trade in vast segments of our economy.....health care, energy, education, transportation, agriculture.....if you think about each market segment, government regulations, mandates, financial influence, whatever....all take the control of trade out of the hands of private owners. Whole industries are created and destroyed by the government. If that isn't control, nothing is. Just ask workers and owners in the coal industry who controls their industry. Solar power, wind power, electric cars.....industries that wouldn't exist if the market was controlled by private owners.
Capitalism requires competitive markets.....they don't exist anymore. Sure competition happens, but on an uneven playing field.
Capitalism requires wage labor. Government regulations in the favor of unions has ensured that wage labor is a farce.
And most importantly, the parties to a transaction aren't really determining the price of the goods and/or services to be exchanged. Think of the outcry that was made about corporate executives making too much money. The wage that an executive makes is a price assigned to a service. It's nobody's business but the executive and his employer. And yet, this administration assigned a czar to address executive pay.
Crony Capitalism is a misnomer. It is meaningless.
We are much closer to fascism. So let's try the alliteration game; FlimFlamFascism or better yet, everyone loves progressivism... Progressive Piracy (and their Progressive Pirate Pals!!!) Larcenous Liberals Government Grifters (Government Griftism?) (and their buddies the Beltway Bandits!!) Commie Cash Companions Shoplifting Socialism Shakedown Socialism Swindler Socialism Scamming Socialism
I think my favorites are FlimFlamFascism, Progressive Piracy and Government Griftism...Shakedown Socialism is pretty good too, eh?
It's time to retire "Crony Capitalism" alongside "The Coloreds", "indians", "US Constitution", "public servant". These are all terms that were either inappropriate and wrong from the outset or have been made completely meaningless by the changing culture.
A person who uses the government regulation to eliminate competition, is not a capitalist A person who profits off of government regulations and policies that are enacted as political favors, is not a capitalist.
These people are swindlers, scammers, grifters. And it isn't facilitated by a government that follows the definition and power limitation found in the U.S. Constitution. It is facilitated by big government progressives who are marrying and enmeshing business and government.
The incestuous relationship between big business and government is the antithesis of free market capitalism.
We didn't see the failure of capitalism with the economic woes of the past 15 years. We did and are still, seeing the inevitable results of government meddling in the economy. Government meddling that increases the amplitude of the economic cycles and at a micro level, shortens the periods of the economic cycle and on a macro scale, increases the periods of the economic cycle.
Liberals using the term "Crony Capitalism" is truly a classic case of the Pot calling the kettle Black. |
