Same challenge as the iWatch and all others... it is an accessory - an additional device - you need to carry (albeit on your wrist). It still requires a smartphone in the pocket to be very useful. That said, the combo still has appeal for some applications, such as working out, medical monitoring, etc., but will only sell well at a low price point. Will consumers buy a $400 smartphone and a $200 smartwatch extension ($600 total)? Probably. Will they buy a $800 smartphone and a $400 extension ($1,200 total)? Only if they have money to blow.
