I can't say you're wrong, but I can point to the fact that ASPs for desktops and laptops, in today's dollars, have plummeted over time. (That's just recent years... go back another decade or two and it's much more dramatic. Similar trend for laptops, mobile devices, chips, memory, etc.) Yes, there's a niche market for high-performance computers that are in the four figures, but the masses spend hundreds, not thousands, of dollars when they purchase. Even if you look a Even if you look at Apple iPads, their ASP has fallen ~$250 in a few years.
As computers got cheaper people are MORE willing to pay a premium for a good computer. |
