| | | AMA’s aggressive tactics to keep physician wages up by, among other things, imposing onerous licensure rules, capping the number of new doctors, and harassing nurses, midwives etc
In my experience of the last few decades, this is nonsense. AMA is the most politically overrated organization in history. They have just about zero influence on licensing - it's up to the states. At most, they can give some advisory suggestions. As far as I know, the only area where they really had significant input is running its Advisory Committee for Medicare fee fixing - and they made quite a mess out of it. Don't like them. Have been a member of county and state societies, over the years, but had no use for those guys. All they're good for is to put on well ironed white coats and go kiss politician's butt. As far as national healthcare policies, pols ignore them first, and ask questions later. |
