Does anybody use both Chrome and Thunderbird?

I started to notice many pages I use a lot get Flash ads at the bottom when using Chrome. One of the pages is SiliconInvestor where I am not supposed to get ads at all....

For example, now there is a flash ad below this posting window at I type when using Chrome but it I go over to Firefox, there are no ads.

Did I get a virus in Chrome or did they start to add advertising to site without paying the owners of the site? I clicked one of those ads on one of my pages and it didn't register as an invalid click as it should for "self clicking."
