My breakdown of the my hypotheitical Pub platform positions:

1. The ACA is "a mess". It is "a mess" for all those who have to had to give up coverage they liked and fit their budgets. And for those who like in the posted story by Bentway have found themselves deprived of coverage they once had. So in addition to touting the benefits of the act (millions of previously uninsured now have coverage, kids under 26 can stay on thier parents policies, no preexisting conditions barrier etc.) Democratic candidates have to be prepared to counter Republican arguments that use real life examples of people caught up in 'a mess" due to the ACA. One can bet each Republican candidate for national office will have a real life story of someone caught in insurance limbo due to the switch engendered by the ACA. IMHO the best way to do this is acknowledge the Act's shortcomings and have proposed fixes ready to offer for these situations:

2. Obama want to raise your taxes. And he does if your making over a million. It's part of the inequality income debate and for the top one percent doing their a'fair share". But for the middle class tax breaks have abounded. whitehouse.gov. So Democratic supporters have to be ready to make the fair share argument while extolling the middle class tax breaks.

3. The out of wedlock birth rate is increasing. True it is increasing--especially more rapidly for white females then black females (White female are at the 40% level and black females over 70%)
However, As ALex MG pointed out this can't be laid at the feet of one party. It is a product of over 70 years of welfare policies enacted by both parties. Having said that I think it is important for Democratic candidates to have ready a list of proposals to help make welfare recipients children be a success in life. One conservative think tank proposal they could get on board with is to keep welfare benefits at the same level for welfare women who marry (up to a certain income level).

4. The economy continues to sputter because of the over abundance of Federal Regulations: The economy does continue to sputter in terms of GNP figures and permanent job creation (2/3 rd s of new jobs are temporary positions). But as the result of Fed regulations. Maybe. OSHA regs can be onerous burdens for some small businesses (family farms for one). in any event every Democratic candidate needs to be able to cite policies that would lead to job creation IMHO and be up enough on particular egregious Fed Regs to counter arguments made about them.
