True, unless they actually release a large screen iPhone. Screen size matters. It's not that larger screens are better; it's that giving users *choice* of screen size matters. The iPhone screen is perfect for many people, and it's far too small (or large) for others.
They'll definitely release a larger screen option. If they don't, the iPhone's popularity would be toast. The catch 22 for Apple is that, similar to "Mapgate", they put themselves in a position of needing to admit they were wrong. For years, Apple insisted that they knew that the single size, smaller screen was best for consumers (claims of being must useful with one hand/thumb). Now they'll have to say that either times have changed, or that they simply weren't correct.
If they want to take it to the next level, I'd love to see them introduce more customization options into the OS, or better yet, the ability to run the phone hardware with other mobile platforms. Doing that, in my opinion, could rocket them into a dominant position, if coupled with some price cuts. |
