Hmmm… While reading your post with your description of the technical hurtles to be overcome with LM injection molding process, a little voice in the back of my mind kept saying, "Centrifuge. Large heat sink capacity. Dual walled chamber. Twin (or quad) mold with vacuum injection. The two molds counterbalance each other on opposite sides of the axis of rotation. Processing steps after start of spin, 1> Pull vacuum. 2> Flow molten metal. 3> Stop spin & apply heat sink. 4> Open mold and eject part."

Yep! They've got a difficult one to overcome there.

Then I noticed that at the end you mentioned that they already tried that.
