Local officials here in Washington and in Boston, New Haven, San Francisco and Seattle have also seized on the issue.
But in some cases, higher income inequality might go hand in hand with economic vibrancy, the study found. “These more equal cities — they’re not home to the sectors driving economic growth, like technology and finance,” said its author, Alan Berube. “These are places that are home to sectors like transportation, logistics, warehousing.”
Cities have always attracted the richest and the poorest and its true of cities wherever they located including cities like Nashville, Dallas, Charlotte and Atlanta. That's why I referenced a chart that shows the level of income disparity state wide. It shows where the problem exists on a region wide basis. You want to blame income disparity on liberals when in reality the problem is most pressing in conservative areas of the country. And there is a good reason why its most pronounced in conservative areas.
