More musings about sensors. Anyone read "Inside the Googleplex?"

amazon.com

Its an interesting read. Basically "build it and then we can make something of it."

Google's aesthetic is to build massive data, THEN use that data to DESIGN stuff around it. Google's database is constantly growing and will never stop?

Same with Facebook I think, hence their buyout of WhatsApp. I think Facebook doesn't even know what they are going to do with WhatsApp except collect data which they will then use multiple ways.

The era of the super giant data base companies.

So I was thinking sensors collect data. Apple has giant data centers.

What kind of data can sensors collect that would be useful? That's as far as I got...

some data like immediate temperature of air is fairly useless? how would you use banks of personal data like body temperatures?

Anyway data is valuable, sensors collect data all the time. Sensors are getting smaller and more sophisticated. Apple bought Primesense, presumably for the Apple TV but maybe other things?

Would data from Primesense in the living room be useful?
