Mary, Re: your weltanshauung I think it's not a good thing for Intel to attempt to do what you desire them to do with anal-ysts. I myself do not pay the slighest attention to what they say except to grind my teeth whenever I hear statements that are out of touch with reality. I'm not talking about what these guys have to say about the price of the stock either. I'm talking about what they have to say about business news and their "prognostications" of the future. What Intel does now is simple. They report on what has occurred, they give guidance about the next three months and longer, and they answer anal-ysts questions in a conference call for anyone to hear. In addition, when business conditions change enough for them to feel that actual results will differ significantly from previous guidance, they announce their new guidance publically. You don't hear much from Intel executives either except when one gives a public speech or when is interviewed at an event. Most "news" about Intel seems to come to the media from other than Intel sources and is therefore a guestimate IMO. Anal-ysts who report this kind of thing as "news" are playing their personal intuition against their personal biases and spewing out the result. Why should Intel bother with this nonsense? Just telling the story as they see it is fine with me. Even better, is performing, and that they have. Barry
